About the Band
Albatross is a Manchester based Classic Rock/ Blues band. They formed in June 2021, and take influences from a large variety of musicians. Overall, their main influences include Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix and Fleetwood Mac. With Alex Slaven on drums, and Sam Crowther on bass, the rhythm and soul of the band is locked in tight. Jack Wild was originally the rhythm guitarist with Scott Bentley on lead, but after months of searching, Scott decided to take on the role as the lead singer, and with that, Jack became the lead guitarist. Together, they form a tight and tasteful classic rock band.
Alex Slaven
Drummer
Alex, the drummer, like most of the band, isn't afraid to show off his influences. He brings the hammer down on the drums, to try and replicate the power that many of the famous drummers of yesteryear brought to the table. Alex takes influence primarily from drummers like John Bonham, Mitch Mitchell and Clyde Stubblefield. His years of experience help him hold down the rhythm and keep the band locked down.
Scott Bentley
Vocals
In the early days of the band, Albatross had no singer and most of the songs were written as instruments which one day would be moulded to fit lyrics. However, after months passed and no singer was in sight, Scott decided to have a go at singing, and had a voice which perfectly complemented Albatross' sound. Scott takes influence from the greats like Robert Plant, Peter Green, Paul McCartney and John Lennon.
Jack Wild
Lead Guitarist
Much like Scott in the early days, Jack's role in the band was a little different. He and Scott used to switch between rhythm and lead guitar as the songs required. However, since Scott switched to vocals, Jack became the band's lead and only electric guitarist, and has worked hard to mould the songs written for two guitars into one. He's been playing guitar for three years and takes influence from blues players such as Gary Moore and Jimi Hendrix. He also takes interest in genres such as funk and soul, but his heart is in the blues.
Sam Crowther
Bass Guitarist
The bass guitarist, Sam Crowther, plays an essential roll to keeping the band perfectly locked in with each other. The chemistry between the bass and drums is key to the solid feel of the band. He takes influence from such greats as John Paul Jones, Paul McCartney, and Joe Dart. As well as this, Sam takes influence from some of the great jazz double bass players, like Percy Heath, and Paul Chambers.
